Trip to Toronto, Ontario (Click on any image to load a larger copy)
Introduction
Hockey is my favorite sport to watch and so in 1999, I decided to go to Toronto to see the Hockey Hall of Fame and to see a game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadians. I flew out on Thursday, October 21st and after checking in at my hotel, I headed out to the Ontario Science Centre. It was an interesting place especially after 3:00 when all the kids went back to school. While there I saw an IMAX movie.

Friday was a cold, rainy day and a perfect time to visit museums. The first museum I went to was Royal Ontario Museum. They had an exhibit on Islamic/Middle Eastern Art, which I enjoyed seeing. After the ROM, I walked south and ended up at the Ontario's Parliament Building. I took a tour of the building with a class of 6th graders and learned a little about the Canadian system of government. After that, I went to have lunch in Toronto's Chinatown area.

Saturday was a better day and I began by visiting the Hockey Hall of Fame. While there I saw the Stanley Cup and the other trophies players can win. After seeing the HHOF, I walked in the downtown area of the city and ended up at the CN Tower. The tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the world and I spent the money to get to the top of it. While it is a nice site to see, it is not really worth the price.

Saturday night was game night and I headed out to the Air Canada Centre. I was surprised at the prices there the ticket was expensive in my opinion, but the concessions were quite affordable. The game was interesting to watch as the US national anthem was played and the rivalry between the cities was intense. The game ended 3-2 in Toronto's favor. I was also surprise on how orderly the fans and subway system was at the end of the game. I was back in my hotel about 15 minutes after the game ended.

The next day I took a bus to the airport, went threw US Customs in Canada (a somewhat strange concept), and returned back to Virginia.

I took these photos with a borrowed Nikon Point & Shoot camera and used print film. The photos were digitalized using a Visioneer scanner I had recently purchase and were cleaned up a bit with Adobe PhotoShop Elements. Additional Camera Information
